Roberto Cominati

Appreciated by La Repubblica for «the stylistically impeccable and mimetic pianism» (Angelo Foletto), Roberto Cominati won first prize at the Alfredo Casella International Competition in Naples in 1991. In 1993 he came to the attention of critics and the major international concert halls thanks to the first prize at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano. In 1999 he also obtained the Jacques Stehman audience award from Belgian TV and the French broadcaster TV5, as part of the Reine Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. In Italy he is a guest of prestigious musical institutions such as the Teatro alla Scala, the Municipal Theater of Bologna, The Phoenix of Venice, il Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the San Carlo of Naples, Carlo Felice of Genoa, the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the Chigiana Academy of Siena, the Brescia and Bergamo Piano Festival and the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi. Abroad he played at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, al Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, alla Konzerthaus di Berlino, at the Salzburg Festival, al Gasteig di Monaco di Baviera, to Brussels Mint, to the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, at the Kennedy Center in Washington and then again in England, Belgio, Netherlands, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Finlandia, Japan and Australia. Among the conductors with whom he has collaborated we remember Sir Simon Rattle, Daniele Gatti, Andrej Borejko, Leon Fleisher, Daniel Harding, Yuri Ahronovitch, David Robertson, Mikhail Pletnev, Alexander Lazarev, Andrea Battistoni, Michele Mariotti, Juraj Valčuha, Sascha Goetzel and Eliahu Inbal. He is completing the recording of the complete piano work by Claude Debussy, for Decca (the first two CDs of which are already available). Previous recordings include 'Bach & Handel’. 'Transcriptions for Piano' published by Acousence and Ravel's complete piano work published by Amadeus.
