A contemporary rereading of Gian Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater

The trumpeter and composer Giovanni Falzone, leading name in jazz, not just Italian, he rereads Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in his own way, sacred vocal masterpiece written by the famous baroque composer in 1736. Conceived in ten small paintings, Falzone's work revolves around an incredible and dense intertwining of ancient and modern, exploring various sound worlds, from jazz to contemporary music. Falzone, in reworking the material, continuously alternates blocks inherent to Pergolesi's original score with new compositions derived from thematic cells composed by Falzone himself. The staff, formed by trumpet, trombone and accordion, genera, already in itself, a very interesting mixture. To the three instruments, which are used both in canonical form and in creative and unconventional form, the unpredictable color of the electronics is added, which exponentially amplifies the expressive possibilities, making the entire sound picture always variable and moving.
